West
Harbour City Offers Excellent Value . . .
Designed for Plazacorp/Berkley Development by Les Klein,
principal in the Toronto firm Quadrangle Architects, West Harbour City will consist of two
linked elements: a 36-storey spire facing south toward Lake Ontario and stepping down on
its north side; and an 11-storey block, running along Fleet Street, immediately to the
east of the tower.
It will stand on the north side of Fleet Street, just north-east of Coronation Park, and
directly south of Fort York and the Gardiner Expressway pretty well directly across
Lakeshore Blvd from Tip Top Lofts offering some impressive south and west views.
The artist's rendering, suggests that West Harbour City will buck the conventional Toronto
fashion (which I happen to like) for severely tailored neo-modern towers of glass like
it's neighbors to the east ("Malibu")
and west ("Waterpark City").
Certainly of the three developments along Fleet Street, West Harbour offers the best
"Value".
Its traditionalist manner is designed to recreate the romantic era of American skyscraper
design (roughly, between the First and Second World Wars) that gave us, for example the
Empire State Building and the upscale residential streetscape of New York's Park Avenue.
I've purchased a couple units in West Harbour City recently and was genuinely impressed
with the interior package (nine foot ceiling heights, granite countertops with below mount
sinks, engineered hardwood floors, marble bathrooms, etc.).
This is a hot property for the money (ranging around $330/sq.ft. with $800/floor
increases. Sales have been brisk but some excellent suites remain. Remember don't just
walk in by yourself as some "dog suites" are also remaining. I'll help you read
the floor plans, site plan, etc. to make sure that you get the absolute best that they
have to offer. Contact me either by email or phone at 416-783-5000. |
