America Fighting a Terrorist War Against a Terrorist Leader of a Terrorist Country

Saturday March 29, 2003 C. L. Hanes

I must admit being somewhat terrified by what I see going on in the Middle East today. Could Syria really have nothing to do with shipping night vision goggles to Iraq even though Rumsfeld, a senior American Official at a time of War would set forth the allegation so bluntly? I don’t think so and I try very hard to be totally unbiased.

I’m not an America "selling the American story". I’m a Canadian. Moreso I’m a civilian of the Planet and as much as I agree that all parties have the Right to express their position, I believe my position is shared by an impressive majority of this Country.

I am calling for Prime Minister Chretien and each of the members of our Government that has made unacceptable Public Statements on Canada’s behalf to immediately step down. Our tax dollars should not continue to go to these employees of our Country who have failed to uphold acceptable standards of conduct in the capacity for which they were employed.

An apology notification should immediately be delivered to the American Administration with assurances that these disgraced Officials will no longer misconstitute or represent the voice of the majority of this Country.

Someone really has to call a halt to media attacks against the Administration of the United States. Fortunately we do have journalists "reporting" (see "embedded" journalists). Certainly we all understand that Arab media has an agenda as presented in their obviously biased reporting on this War. No-one gets to grill Saddam or his Leaders.

The fact that is throwing me off today is a question that I’m sending on to CNN. They have the in-house resources to find the answer to questions that we the people have. This War is a War on Terrorism. I am caught by the flagrant "terrorist" infrastructure of Iraq’s defenses. These people hold so such disdain for and disrespect for the rule of law that they imitate all aspects of Western Politics, prostituting the outcome of "elections" (Saddam and the Ba’ath Party are the only ones to run) while operating a totalitarian oppressive regime that is known to torture, murder and otherwise ravage the people of Iraq and the areas surrounding it.

My question is: "Of all the Arab and/or Muslim Countries (Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Kuwait, Israel, Palestine, etc.) which of these countries DOES NOT HAVE known Terrorist Activity". Terrorism is a way of life to this region and with centuries of oppression from ruthless people with very different cultural, moral and spiritual beliefs than ours. I am not sure that we will ever develop a comprehension of what leads these people to feel justified and/or spiritually fulfilled committing murder! Suicide bombing appears to be an acceptable tactic unique to the Arab civilization.

Suicide bombing is foreign to Americans (possibly more accurately stated as foreigners or non-Arabs in the area) and it is spiritually against our rational conclusions with respect to religious affiliation. No God sanctions murder! No God Martyrs fanatics who take their own lives by taking other lives.

I’m surprised and somewhat dismayed to never see Arab or Muslim religious leaders coming forth discussing this flagrant violation of any religious doctrine. Saddam continues to use religion, bin laden continues to use religion but the very essence of religion contradicts their testimony yet thousands of suicide paramilitary death squads exist in this region of the world, ready and willing to travel to all corners of the world introducing their radical willingness to kill themselves to kill others.

Intellectually, civilizations have the capacity to share a universal understanding of integrity and truth only when they develop a respect for human life. Self destruction through becoming a voluntary bomb to murder others cannot be justified regardless of provocation yet we see a constant propensity toward such conduct from within these Arab nations.

To my knowledge this is a characteristic unique to the area and to these ethnic backgrounds. Terrorism cannot be tolerated. 9/11 supports that. Terrorist have traveled around the world (from this region) and declared an unannounced War on America by highjacking commercial airliners and flying them into inhabited commercial buildings. They unsuccessfully assaulted the World Trade Centre earlier solidifying in America’s mind that these suicide squads were already on it’s soil.

The Terrorist spearheading the Terrorist Regime in Iraq has got to be stopped and America has taken up the burden of defending the Free World once again. I am asking Peace Activists to remain diligent but not public. Your initiatives are being used as propaganda against your country and countrymen in harms way. Your fellow citizens are fighting, dying and being held as Prisoner’s of War at a time when you are choosing to impose your view over the voice of the majority of your country’s people.

To the Press, I ask you to be diligent in your pursuit and presentation of the "truth" showing respect and restraint when pursuing intellectual issues surrounding the issue. This is a very serious time in our world, a world that is dependent upon the integrity and protection of the United States of America. My heart and spirit go out to the brave young men and women who are sacrificing so much throughout the Gulf region.

To the American Government and People and to all people in the free world, I beseech you to motivate your local officials to pursue alternatives fuels to get us all off of a dangerous dependency of a liquid that is being consumed from the earth.

Until tomorrow, I’m Charles Laurie Hanes
